Teaching

I have experience teaching introductory and upper-division courses both in person and online.  I believe that students learn best when they are interested, invested, and confident. As such, classes are inherently discussion-based and allow students to engage with current events and topics that they are passionate about.

Teaching is immensely important to me, and I have dedicated a significant amount of time to improving it. I completed the UKY Certificate in College Teaching and Learning in the Fall of 2025. This certificate requires 12 additional hours of classes devoted to improving instruction methods and understanding the world of higher education and student development.

However, my teaching style and prowess are not just talk. I have received consistently and significantly higher than average Teacher Course Evaluations in my time as a primary instructor. I also have earned recognition as an Outstanding Teaching Assistant for the College of Arts and Sciences, one of five honorees in the social sciences.

Below, I've attached a graph plotting my average scores alongside those of the department and the college for the same period. I am especially proud that the areas I score the highest are within teaching quality, effective communication, and student respect.
